• Welcome to Saints Martha and Mary Episcopal Church
  • Why Martha? Why Mary?

This is the 5th Sunday of the Easter season. Life springs forth in new possibilities for He is Risen Indeed. Alleluia.

Christ is risen, also, in our deeds, what we do for eachother, and for the stranger.

The week of May 2 we remember the story of the the vine & branches. We are Christ's branches in the world said Jesus. We will hear from special guest preacher, the Rev. Kerri Meyer of Good Courage Farm. She will be telling us the 92-acre organic fruit farm near Hutchinson, and its sustainable practices. Learn how you can support its work and its values

In these challenging times of Covid-19, we are not yet back to meeting in person, but rather online to keep everyone safe while we do our part to slow the spread. Currently three Eagan schools (Red Pine Elementary, Pilot Knob Elementary and Eagan High School) are on the Department of Health's COVID-19 breakout list.

The full service is available each week on Zoom. Contact us in advance of Sunday to receive links to the service, and worship guide. We are a church, by the way, that is perfectly fine with questions.

We also enjoy a good laugh.

If you would like someone to pray for you or your concerns, simply use the prayer form to the right of this article. A previoius sermon by the Rev. Tom Garrison can be viewed here. And special prayers were offered for the extraoridinary events we have experienced in the last few weeks.

The talented hymn writer Carolyn Winfrey Gillette reminds us: When we face an unknown future that we can't imagine yet, when the [life] we have treasured turns from blessing into threat--As we miss our friends and loved ones, as we crave community, may we look, God, in this season, for a whole new way to be.

Our Book of Common Prayer reminds us in times like these:

This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

What is Eastertide?

Eastertide, or the Easter season, marks the 40 days from Easter to Christ's Ascension after his Resurrection. Today, we are Christ's hands and feet in a hurting world. Don't forget to check in with people in your neighborhood who may be alone or vulnerable, or to cheer someone up with a card or a call. We are the Church together.

And remember to mask up, so we can more quickly get past this Pandemic as more people are vaccinated.

We hope you have a good week, and may + the blessings of Christ go with you this day, and always.
